Awake, a photo by J.Madhavi on Flickr.
We are already nearing the finish of the first month of the new year - 2013. Around 6-ish years since my first blog post. How fast time flies!!

I haven't been regular in posting on my blog.It is due to a mix of laziness/nothing to write about. I think from now on, i will start writing a bit about photography.. the photos that I have taken on my road trips with husband.

So here's one; Awake!!

A Bit on photo background. Living in northern india has its perks. First, is the proximity to the fascinating & enchanting himalayas. There are many trekking, touring spots that are within a day's drive.

One such destination was Kufri. It is a silent hill-station near Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). An ideal destination to just get lost and far from the maddening crowd. Kufri has a zoo in which most of the animals housed are the ones found in the northern (snowy) areas and the also the most common Bengal tiger.

When we visited the zoo, I wanted to try the technique of "fooling your camera and focussing on the animal caged". I don't remember where & when of me reading it. But visiting this zoo a part of me wanted to try that. And I got lucky with this shot. After taking this shot.. not matter how hard we (hubby & me) tried we just couldn't fool our camera in focussing on the caged animal. All we managed was capturing the cage nets again.

Technique:-

I tried to focus on the blade of grass near to the snow leopard. Tried focusing through small square gaps in the steel mesh cages. Then tried similar thing by focussing on the leopard and then zooming on him.

Enjoy the photo and leave your comments if you like the photo.

Untill next time Cheers & Keep clicking.

P.S:- In this post I have not written much on the technique I used because the photo kind of happened based on some intuition and tweaking the technique. But in the next post's i'll try to include the steps I followed and some EXIF info too.
