New Year

Bad start to the new year. But still miles to go as of now. It's still the start. I'm yet to know that what the new year has in store for me.... the good & the bad. Inspite of the setback now still excited a bit about the trip i'm having. I hope the trip to Tadoba helps me regain something i've lost. Hoping to be on firmer & better ground at the new year's end. Stay tuned for the Tadoba Updates. -- ~~> Madhavi.

Trek to Korigad

Image
It was India's 63rd Independence Day.Chakram Hikers had organised a trek to Korigad. I decided to be a part of the trek and am glad that I was able to be a part of it. There was a tree plantation scheduled along with a cleanliness drive. We started a 6:30am in the morning in a bus. We reached the base village "Peth Shahpur" at 9:30 am in the morning. After a breakfast of Poha and some tea; we started for Korigad. At the base of the fort;just after you leave the village is the famous "Amby Valley". All of the Amby valley can be seen from "Korigad" fort. The fort got it name from its shape (Koiri)/due to the temple of Koraidevi is situated at the top. The walls of the fort are still intact & one can walk along the perimeter of the walls. It is a big fort and the fort contains two lakes, temple of Korai Devi & temples of Lord Vishnu/Lord Shanker. From the fort at one side the fort of Tikona/Tung can be seen. On the other side we can see the Ambivan...

TringalWadi Trek

Image
Monsoon treks are always a delight. Sahyadris are at their beautiful best in the monsoons. This year though the monsoons have been late in coming. I decided to go for the Tringalwadi trek almost at the Last moment. I called up Vinay, the trek lead to check whether I could be accommodated. To my surprise, I could join the trek. We were a group of 28 people. After catching the Tapovan Express at 6:48am we landed at Igatpuri at about 9:30 am in the morning. After having our Breakfast in the local udipi hotel we started the trek towards the Tringalwadi village after taking directions from the hotelwala. After passing through the Wagh Khind the route we took traversed several village farmlands. We kept on asking the passerby’s for directions. Outskirts of the village we saw a small snake probably a hatchling. From the Tringalwadi village we were guided by a localite to the top. We started out by moving towards the PandavLeni. We met a group of trekkers there who assured us that the fort top...
